The Grove is painted with acrylic paints mixed by the artist. The painting surface is a heavy 300gsm paper mounted with archival acrylic medium to birch plywood. After several layers of color were applied, the final image became a series of swirling trees, roses, birds, bees and all the life you would find in a woodland. The swirls and line work are reminiscent of the colorful stones set into Celtic craft work like shields, cauldrons and drinking cups.
