She of the Grain, 100 x 70 cm
She of the Grain was created with oil paint on primed linen. The professional grade linen is stretched over wooden stretchers with a 4cm thickness. The extra thick stretcher gives the painting presence when hung on the wall. This work is ready to hang.
She of the Grain is a reference to the ancient temple of Demeter at Eleusis. The Goddess, Demeter was a teacher who in theory could be visited through an ergot spiked cocktail. The image is a mental imprint of the caves and landscape around the temple. The painting process was inspired by Wayne Thiebaud's dessert series.
