The title, “The Ben Franklin” refers to the Benjamin Franklin Bridge connecting the city to New Jersey. The image of the bridge looms large in the artists mental landscape of the city. The historic Old City and adjoining 2nd Street art gallery circuit gather at the base of the bridge, forming a perpetual backdrop to the artists career there.
“The Ben Franklin”
pieces together imagery remembered by the artist from the Delaware
River, Ben Franklin Bridge, wharves, and various other architecture
and natural features in the surrounding landscape. The composition is
loud, dynamic, and noisy in reference to the energy of the busy city.
