Entering New Territory

Collage made with Chinese paper on canvas. Framed in black iron.

30 x 40 cm, 2022

Katja Gramann, says: The work is a collage of fine Chinese paper that I colored in advance with coffee, white, turquoise and carbon black pigments. After drying, I tore up the paper and rearranged it in many layers to create the finished picture. I chose the title “Entering new territory” because the color, the dynamics and the atmosphere in the picture make me think of a beach situation, which has less to do with vacation and more with new challenges that need to be mastered.
