SHIFTING SEASONS

British abstract painter, Mary West returns to the European continent with a new series of paintings she’s entitled, Shifting Seasons. Mary says her intention for the series is, “...exploring natural cycles through the lens of climate change. The focus will be on transitional moments, those in-between states where one season blends into another, echoing the increasingly unpredictable patterns associated with a warming planet.”

Her message comes across beautifully, encapsulated in the Earth tones and tertiary colors of her abstract expressionist style. The energy she puts into the artworks is its own tempest, like a storm in a Turner landscape - but seen from a more intimate, enclosed vantage point - mirroring our own personal relationship to the changes occurring around us.
